It’s a fun week for sure when it includes an evening spent with the Creative Cutters group! This was only our second meeting and over half the group was there for the first time – once again a good mix of new Silhouette owners, those who’ve owned their machine for a while, and a few who don’t own a machine but wanted to see what it’s all about. And, as promised, there was “bling” involved!

A couple of the ladies brought Show & Tell items – a real encouragement for everyone in the group.  I love seeing what others are doing with their machines and I hope we’ll have even more people sharing as the months go by.

Our focus for the month was on rhinestones, which we used to add some sparkle and shine to this cute little bag:

As part of the program I did an overview of the different levels of Silhouette Studio software, with an emphasis on how the rhinestone capabilities vary among each of them.

  • Basic (Standard) Edition – cut pre-designed rhinestone templates (available in the Silhouette Design Store and from various other sources)
  • Designer Edition – create your own rhinestone templates using either freehand drawing tools or the rhinestone conversion tool. Patterns can be designed for rhinestone sizes 6ss, 10ss, 16ss, and 20ss.
  • Designer Edition Plus – view rhinestone designs with a photo-realistic preview using the built-in library of rhinestones or by uploading your own custom images.
  • Business Edition – no additional rhinestone capabilities.

After the presentation, it was time for some hands-on practice. Each person selected a bag in either black, pink, or blue, then added glitter and/or flocked HTV before finishing it off with the crystal rhinestones. It was fun to see each person’s unique combination (not to mention their surprise at how easy it was to create a rhinestone transfer using Magic Flock 🙂).

I’m already busy planning next month’s project and looking forward to our next meeting. If you’re local, please consider joining us on Tuesday, October 17, 6:30 pm at the Panola County Extension Office. Follow me on Facebook for the latest information on what we’re doing. It’s a great group of people and we’d love for you to be part of the fun!

Hope to see you there,
