Creative Cutters: Rolled Paper Flowers

Is it possible that Creative Cutters just gets to be more and more fun each month? It certainly is for me! It was wonderful to have some of our regular members back with us (and all healed up from surgery!) as well as to welcome new faces to the group. One of the ladies just ordered her Cameo 3 earlier this week and is eagerly awaiting its arrival. She is going to have so much fun!
Our project for this month was rolled paper flowers. To create something similar, you will need:
- 8 in x 10 in frame with glass cover
- 8.5 in x 11 in cardstock (background) – I used this pattern (purchased at Hobby Lobby)
- 8.5 in x 11 in cardstock paper, variety packs (flowers)
- 3-D flower designs (We used these two by Lori Whitlock, which I resized in Silhouette Studio.)
- Pointed Tweezers
- Zip-Dry Glue
- Vinyl Decal
- Transfer Tape
- Painters Tape
- E6000 glue
First we inserted the background paper into the frame, then I demonstrated how to apply the decal using the “hinge” method.
Next we rolled the flowers. If you haven’t ever made a paper flower before, it’s much easier than it looks. Simply grasp the end with a pair of pointed tweezers and start rolling the paper toward you. (Roll it rather tightly.) Once you have rolled it part of the way, release the tweezers and continue rolling by hand until you get to the end. Release the paper and let it spring open a bit. Glue the tab at the end to the bottom edge of the rolled flower with Zip-Dry glue. Hold in place for a few seconds until glue begins to set. Allow to dry.
Once the flowers were glued to the glass using E6000 glue, our project was complete!
