The first Silhouette Saturday is now “in the books” and I think it was quite the success! We had lots of fun, lots of food, lots of great door prizes, lots of take-home goodies, and – most importantly – lots of learning! A few of the attendees had never made a cut with their Cameo before the workshop. To watch them go from zero experience to several completed projects in less than 24 hours (and have the desire to go home and do even more with their machines) was so rewarding.

Besides the joy I get from teaching, it was fun to simply spend time together with other Silhouette enthusiasts. Seeing and experiencing the bonds that come from crafting together is the icing on the cake for me!

The Friday night beginner’s session included an introduction to the Silhouette Studio software and the Silhouette Design Store. In addition to cutting regular adhesive vinyl, everyone had a chance to work with some beautiful patterned vinyl from Sparkleberry Ink with an added glitter overlay.

During the remainder of the workshop, we concentrated heavily on getting to know the features of Silhouette Studio and using that knowledge to create designs for a variety of hands-on projects, including glass etching, layering and adhesive vinyl decal, and working with HTV.

Leah was the winner of the Portrait 2, donated by Silhouette America.

This free file from Dreaming Tree made the perfect take-home project.

As you can imagine, an event like this wouldn’t be possible without the work of many hands. My mom and husband not only helped me in the weeks leading up to the workshop but were right there alongside me throughout the weekend doing whatever was needed, by either myself or the students. Thank you both!

I’m also extremely grateful to each of the sponsors for their support. Thanks to their generosity, everyone was able to not only learn about a variety of materials during the workshop but also receive some wonderful door prizes and a goodie bag chock-full of things to take home and play with.
