What’s on your summer bucket list? In addition to some serious crafty time, mine includes plenty of road trips – in fact I’m on one right now! So what do I do on these road trips besides look at the scenery? The same thing I do when I’m crafting – I listen to podcasts!

While some people like to watch TV or listen to music while they craft, podcasts are my go-to. My favorites are a mix of fun, information, and inspiration. Here’s what’s currently on my playlist:

My 10 Current Favorite Podcasts

Happier with Gretchen Rubin – I’ve been a fan of Gretchen Rubin’s since I first read her best-selling book, The Happiness ProjectNow I love listening to her and her sister, Elizabeth Craft, each week. Each episode truly does go a long way toward helping me be “happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative.”

Cultivate a Good Life – Becky Higgins began her career as a paper scrapbooker and editor at Creating Keepsakes magazine, then went on to launch her own company with the tagline “Cultivate a good life and record it.” Now along with her friend and co-host, Becky Proudfit, she’s taken that advice one step further with this podcast. The episodes cover a wide variety of topics, each meant to encourage listeners to cultivate the best life possible.

99% Invisible – This show bills itself as a podcast “about all the thought that goes into the things we don’t think about” – and that is a perfect description! Have you ever given any thought to the importance of sand? Or what it takes to make food look good on film? Did you know that most power outages are caused by squirrels? These topics may sound boring but I can assure you they are anything but!

The Sheri + Nancy Show – I don’t always agree with everything Sheri Salata and Nancy Hala have to say, but I’m always entertained by hearing them say it! Their mantra is “It’s never too late to make the rest of your dreams come true. And, if not now, when?” I couldn’t agree more!

Christy Wright’s Business Boutique – Christy Wright is a successful businesswoman who created Business Boutique to help equip women to make money doing what they love. Expanding on the information presented in her book of the same name, she will give you the courage to follow your dreams along with the nuts and bolts of making that dream a success.

Elise Gets Crafty – crafter Elise Baha Cripe talks with women (and a few men!) involved in creative small businesses. It’s always amazing to hear the different forms a creative business can take. The drive and dedication displayed by these small business owners really encourages me in my own creative business as well.

The BizChix Podcast – host Natalie Eckdahl makes no bones about the fact that she is focused on helping high-achieving, entrepreneurial women grow their business to the next level. Very few of her clients are in the creative industries but I enjoy listening to hear how her advice might apply to my own business.

The Goal Digger Podcast – Jenna Kutcher is a successful photographer turned business coach who encourages women to dream bigger and find out what sets them apart in the business world. In this podcast, she shares practical advice on how to build a successful business and have fun while doing it!

How I Built This – In each episode of How I Built This, you’ll hear the stories behind some of the world’s best known companies. You’ll find out how Kendra Scott became an “overnight” success, how companies such as Door Dash and Yelp came to be, how a drug-addicted thief turned his life around and created a company which he eventually sold for $275 million – and so much more!

Serial (Season One) – I started listening to Serial about the time that Season One, Episode 4 came out. I eagerly followed the case of Adnan Syed and his involvement in the 1999 murder of his classmate and ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. Once I got caught up, I could hardly wait for each week’s new episode to go live. I listened to Season Two for a while, but found it less compelling. I have yet to download Season Three.
