Summer is winding down, kids are going back to school, and Creative Cutters is back in session! I’ve missed seeing everyone this past couple of months so it was absolutely wonderful to be together again!
Welcome Back!
This month we welcomed old friends and new members alike, including four generations of one family — mom, daughter, granddaughter and two great-granddaughters! It makes my heart happy to see our little group growing and to watch everyone having fun and crafting together.
Where We Meet
Our “home” for 2019-2020 is the Sammy Brown Library in Carthage, Texas. A few years ago, the library moved from its former location on College Street to 319 Market Street, a site that was once a National Guard Armory. The transformation of the Armory was absolutely amazing, making it hard to believe that this beautiful building was once a place to store armaments and conduct military training exercises. I feel very fortunate to have access to such a great meeting space.
What We Do
For our first project, we learned how to create and apply a multi-colored decal, using the Think Happy Be Happy Quote design from the Silhouette Design Store (Design ID 215854). The decal was cut from four different colors of Expressions Vinyl Series 51, a permanent adhesive vinyl comparable to Oracal 651.
Our second project was the Lori Whitlock 100 Sticky Note Holder (Silhouette Design Store ID 43735). I pre-cut all the pieces from a variety of papers – solid color cardstock, patterned scrapbook paper, and printable patterns similar to the ones described here. It’s always fun to see the unique combinations each person comes up with.
And of course there were door prizes! Thanks to the generosity of Silhouette America, we’ll be giving away a Mint stamp maker (along with other goodies) at each of our meetings again this year. Kelsey has been wanting one for a while now so she was pretty excited when her number was drawn!
Everyone did great and there were lots of smiling faces at the end of the night!
Find Out More
I’ve got several fun things planned for this year and I’m already looking forward to our next meeting. If you’re in the East Texas area, we’d love to have you join us sometime. There’s always room for one (or two or three) more at our craft table! Find out more information by clicking here or by following my Facebook page. Until next time,
