I’m keeping this simple today because I’m headed to Peachtree City, GA for my 3rd All Things Silhouette Conference!!! Rather than attending classes this time around, I’m volunteering as a staff member and couldn’t be more excited. It’s always fun to get together with my Silhouette buddies and I know we’re going to have a great time!
You may remember that I also attended ATSC last June and made glass bead magnets as a swap item. I hadn’t planned on participating in the swap this time, but decided at the last minute that I didn’t want to show up empty-handed. Since time was short, I knew I needed something quick and easy – more of a “giveaway” than a “swap”. I’ve made these cute candy favors in the past using a quilting theme and so, with a few modifications, the “Silhouette User’s Emergency Kit” was born!
The design is a simple Print & Cut that I printed on Avery 1/2 sheet label paper (you could also use Silhouette Printable Sticker Paper). Another idea is to print them on plain cardstock and affix with adhesive or punch a hole in the corner and tie to the M&Ms package. The cut file can be downloaded here. (Note: this file was created in Silhouette Studio v4.1. If you are using an earlier version, you may need to copy and paste the file into a new document in order for the cut lines to appear.)
Since the emergency kits went together so quickly, I also had time to make these Silhouette-themed door hangers, using Design #183808 from the Silhouette Design Store. The free cut file for the blank door hanger is available from Bird’s Cards. I set up the file as a Print & Cut, printed it out, laminated the full sheet, and then cut. I was really pleased with how well my Cameo cut the laminated material. In the few instances where some of the lamination tried to peel loose after cutting, I ran the hanger back through my laminator to re-seal and it worked perfectly!
If you’ve never attended a Silhouette conference or retreat, I encourage you to do so. I’ll be posting pictures next week so you can get a glimpse into what goes on during the weekend. In the meantime, if you’d like to read more about the All Things Silhouette Conference and see what all the excitement is about, check out these past posts:
