‘Twas days before Christmas and all through the house…there are piles and piles of gifts to be wrapped! And what better way to add a special touch to your gift-giving than a cute gift tag made with the help of your Silhouette! Just print & cut!!!
But wait…don’t have time to create your own? Bookmark this post, download the freebie, then come back and practice your skills after the holiday rush is over!
What you’ll need:
- Silhouette Studio
- Clipart
- Printer
- Silhouette Cameo or Portrait (or Curio with the large base)
Create the Tag Shape
To begin, open up a new page in Silhouette Studio. Set the dimensions to match your printer (usually 8.5 in x 11 in) and add registration marks to the page by pressing M on your keyboard. Check the boxes for both Show Print Border and Show Cut Border.
Use the drawing tools to create various tag shapes.
Adjust the corners of the rounded rectangle as desired:
- Select the rounded rectangle. You will see two dots on the upper-left corner. These are the control points.
- To adjust only one side of the curve, click on the control point and move as desired.
- To adjust both curves simultaneously, hold down the SHIFT key while you click and drag on either control point.
Combine shapes to create more intricate tags. Once the shapes are aligned, weld them together into a single shape.
Experiment with different combinations. You can even use text elements!
If you plan on tying the tags onto your gifts, don’t forget to add a hole for the ribbon or string!
Add text, patterns, colors, and graphics
Add text. Fill the shapes with patterns, colors, and/or graphics. Good sources for graphics include the Silhouette Design Store (search for stickers, planner stickers, or other Print & Cut designs), Creative Fabrica, The Hungry JPEG, Design Bundles, and Google Images.
(Click on images for more information.)
Be sure to set your text and images to No Cut.
Finishing
Print the tags on either cardstock or sticker paper and send to your Silhouette machine to cut.

Great blog post! I love all the tags created!
Thank you Elly! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
Thanks for your blog! You are a GREAT teacher and writer. I am subscribed to a lot of “creative blogs” but yours has more helpful information than any of the others! Keep up the good work and have a Merry Christmas.
Do you know of any Christmas nativity stickers that can be purchased. When my children were small, 35 years ago, I would buy them Nativity Stickers from Dennison Publication every year but have not seen any in the month or so I’ve had my Cameo 4. Thanks for any help you can give.
Thank you for the kind words, B. My #1 goal is to help people and I’m happy to know that you’ve found some of my information useful!!! I don’t know exactly what designs you’re looking for but I did find some nativity stickers online at Amazon, Oriental Trading Company, and Current. I also found several nativity designs in the Silhouette Design Store, including Design #228624, which is a Nativity Sticker Sheet. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!!
