After last week’s misadventures, I’m happy to report that Silhouette Saturday 2019 was a great success! There was plenty of food, fun, and friendship and we learned more about Silhouette Studio and our Silhouette machines. Today I’d like to share some of the highlights with you.

Friday Night Pre-Session

Our first project during the Friday night pre-session was this cute canvas zipper bag.  Chemica US Hotmark Revolution in satin-finish Opal along with patterned HTV from SparkleBerry INK (pattern is Color Splash – Purple) made a great combination! (Bags are from Craft Chameleon.)

Next on the agenda were monogrammed phone charger decals. The decals were made from patterned adhesive vinyl with an added glitter laminate (both from Sparkleberry Ink). Measuring tapes from Expressions Vinyl came in handy since we had a variety of charger sizes to work with.

To cap off the evening, we had a fun little “bonus” project – a personalized stamp made on the Silhouette Mint. It was a very simple stamp, but a great introduction to what the Mint can do.

Bright and early Saturday morning, we were ready for the next round of projects, beginning with a layered adhesive vinyl decal using this Baking Subway Art design from Burton Avenue. I don’t like to choose favorites, but if I did, this chalkboard would definitely be the one! The matte-finish Oracal 641 from H & H Sign Supply gave just the look I envisioned and everyone did a great job with cutting by color and layering the vinyl.

Our most ambitious project of the day included skills on manipulating a purchased design, working with text, creating offsets, subtraction, alignment, and various ways to use the knife tool. Once the design was complete, it was cut from Specialty Materials Premium DecoFlock. This is a fantastic product that cuts and weeds easily, with a texture that provided unique interest to the burlap flags from Craft Chameleon. (Original design is Spring Flowers by Echo Park, Silhouette Design Store ID #55370)

Faux leather earrings were our final project and they are always a hit! We used the Walmart faux leather I’ve shared with you before along with some beautiful tooled faux leather from Gayle’s Nest. Making them double-sided also gave me the perfect chance to share one of my favorite tools, the Xyron sticker maker.
